Lawyers For Human Rights Academy
Training of lawyers and members of the judiciary in international standards pertaining to access to justice and fair trial.
Adala for All Association (AFA) is launching “Lawyers For Human Rights Academy”, an exciting new training program for newly* graduated lawyers, focusing on the necessary guarantees in domestic laws, international covenants of international human rights law and international humanitarian law, including international criminal law.
The academy program will include theoretical and practical training, paid internship opportunities, guidance and recommendations for different masters’ programs in human rights law in Europe. A jury of international high legal experts will chair the Human Rights Lawyers Academy.

Stages of the training program:
The four stages of the training program for successful applicants are as follows:
Stage 1: 25 participants will be selected and receive initial training
Accepted participants to the program will receive entry exams and training materials.
Online workshop with the program team.
Four days of face-to-face training program.
Periodic follow-up and networking meetings online and in Libya with lawyers from Europe, Tunisia, Syria, and Palestine.
Based on the evaluation of the participant’s performance during the first phase, the ten most successful participants will be selected by AFA and the panel of Jury to proceed to the next stage of the training program.
Stage 2: Vocational training:
The jury, known for their integrity and experience in international human rights law and international humanitarian law will select the ten best participants with the best scores in terms of practical knowledge and ability to work.
Adala for All will support successful participants with a one-year legal professional development program, provided they adhere to the Academy’s guidelines and recommendations of the trainers and the association.
Stage 3: Meeting lawyers in Europe/Strasbourg:
The ten selected participants will receive additional specialized training in partnership with the Human Rights Committee of the European Lawyers’ Union and the Bar Association’s Council of Strasbourg on international human rights and international humanitarian law in Strasbourg, Europe over a five-day period.
The young lawyers will also have the opportunity to visit the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Stage 4: Scholarship:
Participants who successfully pass the first three stages will be nominated for a scholarship at a European University to obtain a master’s degree in human rights or international humanitarian law and international criminal law.
Criteria for applicants:
The main selection criteria for applicants from Libya to demonstrate are:
Commitment, enthusiasm, and attention to detail, as well as curiosity.
Commitment to successfully complete the successive stages of learning with the Academy.
Only applicants who meet the criteria stated in the application process will be contacted to schedule an interview and will then receive a detailed training agenda and all logistical information if successful in the interview stage.
