Strengthening the practical legal expertise of law students and lawyers under training in LibyaHuman Rights Academy for lawyers under training:
Training for junior lawyers on fair trial and international safeguards for legal proceedings:
This activity aims to enhance the junior lawyers’ knowledge and practical skills on fair trials and international safeguards.
Training programs include four stages, participants are required to be lawyers in training, and success is required at each stage to move up to the next stage.
The program includes distance training (online), interactive training and a meeting with legal experts in Europe.
Participants who have completed the four stages receive membership of AFA network of lawyers, and opportunities to work with our Legal Units on cases related to the protection of victims of violations of human rights. Besides acquiring practical advanced skills on the international Human Rights and Humanitarian law obligations and how the national lawyer could use them before the Libyan court.
The first program will be held in Libya. Application for the program starts in March 2022.

Students of the of Law Schools
The program for Law school students includes practical training through sessions of trial simulations with experts to emulate criminal proceedings, investigative and trial steps, training in the International Humanitarian Law, and the relevant International Conventions for Human Rights Protection. Also, it provides valuable input that will inform these students about the ongoing efforts on the work of lawyers, prosecutors, and the judiciary, and the importance of Bar Association work to defend the independence of lawyers and the judiciary.
